There has been a development regarding the problem raised at the regional meeting held by the Turkish Beyazay Association in Erzurum. In Ankara, a school transport service with lifts has been introduced to make it easier for students with physical disabilities to get to school.
Students of the Ankara Doğan Çağlar Orthopaedic Primary School, Lower Secondary School and Vocational High School for people with disabilities have begun using the school transport vehicles for people with disabilities, which have an automatic lift system, a ramp and safety mechanisms. Under the scheme, run in cooperation between the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and the Ankara Governor's Office, students with physical disabilities will be carried from home to school and from school to home in lift-equipped vehicles that meet accessibility standards, without needing anyone's help.
