The ‘‘Movement to Overcome’’ campaign, launched by the Turkish Beyazay Association and carried out under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was presented in Çorum.
The programme was attended by the Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroğlu, the Mayor of Çorum Muzaffer Külcü, the Governor of Çorum Ahmet Kara, AK Party Çorum MPs Salim Uslu and Ahmet Sami Ceylan, the President of the Çorum branch of the Turkish Beyazay Association Neslihan Hüsülüoğulları and its directors, along with a large number of athletes with and without disabilities.
After listening to folk songs performed by a choir of students with disabilities, Eroğlu went on to play table tennis with our champion Merve Peker, who has Down syndrome. Eroğlu, who also chatted with players of the wheelchair basketball team, sat in an athlete's chair and played basketball.
The Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs, Veysel Eroğlu, said: ‘‘In the past people with disabilities were confined to their homes and did not go out, but now we are fulfilling the requirements of being a social state. I wholeheartedly support the Movement to Overcome campaign held under the auspices of our President, and I congratulate everyone who has contributed to this campaign of the Turkish Beyazay Association.’’
