The ‘Movement to Overcome’ campaign launched by the Turkish Beyazay Association and held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye was also carried out in Elazığ.
The event, held at Kültür Park, was attended by the Governor of Elazığ Murat Zorluoğlu, the President of the Elazığ branch of the Turkish Beyazay Association Naci Demirpolat, representatives of civil society organisations, and a large number of people with and without disabilities.
The President of the Elazığ branch of the Turkish Beyazay Association, Naci Demirpolat, said: ‘‘The Turkish Beyazay Association is overcoming people's communication difficulties and the distance between them through the unifying side of sport, and is setting all 81 provinces of Türkiye in motion thanks to this campaign. Come, let us experience these feelings all together. Let us overcome our barriers together by doing sport.”
The Governor of Elazığ, Murat Zorluoğlu, said that people with disabilities should be out on the streets more, adding: “We want to see our brothers, sisters and children with disabilities outside more. We want to see them more in the parks, in the gardens, on the streets.’’
After the speeches, a folk dance performance by people with disabilities and a relay race were held. A football match was then played on the artificial pitch with people with disabilities, with the participation of Governor Murat Zorluoğlu.
