Sports Training for People with Disabilities

As part of the “Movement to Overcome” campaign launched by the Turkish Beyazay Association and run under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, theoretical training on ‘Sport for People with Disabilities' was given to individuals wishing to take part in the campaign.

The training, held on 18–20 March at the Conference Hall of the Samsun Finishing Institute, was attended by representatives of the Provincial Directorate of National Education, representatives of the Provincial Directorate of Youth Services and Sport, students of the Ondokuz Mayıs University Yaşar Doğu Faculty of Sport Sciences and volunteers of the Turkish Beyazay Association.

The President of the Samsun branch of the Turkish Beyazay Association, Mehmet Akbulut, said: “We hope our campaign, which aims for projects and practices relating to all kinds of physical activity, movement, games and sport for people with disabilities to be carried out in cooperation with the relevant public institutions and organisations, the private sector, the social partners and civil society organisations, will bring about good things.”

The training, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurettin Konar of the İnönü University School of Physical Education and Sport, lasted 3 days. At the end of the programme, participants who completed their training were given a certificate of participation in the ‘‘Movement to Overcome’’ campaign.
