As part of the “Movement to Overcome” campaign launched under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye with the contributions of the Ministries of Youth and Sports, Family and Social Policies and National Education, and coordinated by the Turkish Beyazay Association, various events were held at the Elazığ Cement Factory Social Facility.
The event was attended by the President of the Turkish Beyazay Association Lokman Ayva, the President of the Elazığ branch of the Turkish Beyazay Association Naci Demirpolat, the General Manager of the Cement Factory Yasin Sarıçamlık, members of the Turkish Beyazay Association, representatives of public institutions, and people with disabilities and their families.
Noting that if all people were the same there would be nothing to learn from one another, the President of the Turkish Beyazay Association, Lokman Ayva, said: “Why should we keep our differences limited, why should we not be together with people who are more different from us? People say, when I am talking to someone who is blind I cannot form a sentence about seeing, I am afraid of upsetting you. Why do we not choose to meet, come together and mix with one another instead of avoiding one another? Why do we run away from each other? Friends without disabilities need to remove the barriers in their minds, meet people with disabilities and understand them. People can build a society only as large as the people they are able to know.”
