“Volunteer Young People”, Our Pride
The Istanbul branch of the Turkish Beyazay Association issued a call to young volunteers who say “I too want to take part in work for people with disabilities” and organised the “Hand in Hand with Young People, Let's Overcome Barriers” event.
At the event, attended by students of Gebze Technical University, an enjoyable time was had with introductions free of prejudice, action plans for a better Türkiye and practical exercises exploring what can be fitted into a suitcase.
AK Party Deputy Chair Ravza Kavakcı, who attended the event and supported the association's work, also gave a speech stressing the importance of young people taking part in work for people with disabilities and supporting them.
Emphasising the great role of young people in volunteer work, the President of the Beyazay Istanbul branch, Hanife Baykal, said: “Our aim is to create the Beyazay Istanbul Youth Club and bring young people into our work. Work relating to people with disabilities must spread equally to every layer of society.”
