As part of the ‘‘Movement to Overcome’’ campaign launched by the Turkish Beyazay Association and continuing under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a sports festival was held in the Ereğli district of Konya.
Around 1,000 children with and without disabilities took part in the festival and played football, table tennis and bocce together. The Mayor of Ereğli Özkan Özgüven, the District Governor of Ereğli Ömer Lütfi Yaran, the President of the Special Athletes Federation Birol Aydın and the President of the Konya/Ereğli branch of the Turkish Beyazay Association Vefa Demirkıran, who attended the festival, also did sport together with the children.
Speaking at the festival, the President of the Konya/Ereğli branch of the Turkish Beyazay Association, Vefa Demirkıran, said: ‘‘We launched our Movement to Overcome campaign in order to help people with and without disabilities develop a shared culture of living. Seeing all our children, with and without disabilities, doing sport here together at the same time made us extremely happy. I thank most warmly everyone who has supported this campaign, our President above all.’’
