The Tokat branch of the Turkish Beyazay Association received an award from the AK PARTY for its “Will You Be My Guest” project.
The AK PARTY gave awards to 10 projects under its “Civil Society Awareness Awards of the Year”. Tokat Beyazay received an award in the competition, open to every civil society organisation carrying out projects in Türkiye. The ceremony held in Ankara today was attended by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, ministers, AK PARTY deputy chairs, MPs and representatives of many civil society organisations.
The Prime Minister presented the award to Tokat Beyazay.
The civil society organisations receiving awards were announced to the public at the ceremony. One of the organisations that won was Tokat Beyazay. The President of Tokat Beyazay, Suna Köten, received her award from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Türkiye, Binali Yıldırım. Visibly excited as she received the award, Suna Köten said she was very happy that their project had won. Under the project, the city's decision-makers, administrators and leading figures in particular hosted a person with a disability in their homes. They ate together with them, cooked together, went to the cinema and to shopping centres. They spent a full 24 hours together. At the end of the project, the hosts who shared their feelings and thoughts in writing and in person said they were very pleased to have taken part in this project, to have welcomed a person with a disability into their homes and to have spent 24 hours together. They shared that they had experienced many moments of awareness, learned many new things, and realised many things even about their own children. Among those taking part in the project were many leading figures of the city, such as the Governor of Tokat, the Mayor of Tokat, the Chair of the Tokat Council, the Tokat Director of National Education and the Tokat Secretary General of Public Hospitals.
