Athletes from Mersin who took part on behalf of Mersin Beyazay in the Special Athletes Skiing Turkish Championship organised in Erzurum by the Special Athletes Sports Federation won the Turkish championship in the young men's and young women's categories and took gold medals.
The branch president Gökhan Arsu said: ‘Even though there is no snow in Mersin, they worked extremely hard with great dedication — given the opportunity, there is no barrier that people with disabilities cannot overcome.’
Doing sport as part of the ‘Movement to Overcome’ campaign run by the Turkish Beyazay Association under the auspices of the Presidency, the special athletes are training very hard with the dream of flying the Turkish flag in Europe with the national ski team. We thank most warmly the Mayor of Toroslar Hamit TUNA above all, as well as the District Governor of Toroslar, the District Director of National Education and the Provincial Director of Sport for their support.
