As the İzmir branches of the Consumer Protection Association (TükoDer) and the Turkish Beyazay Association, a project applied for in October under the EU Sivil Düşün Programme has been approved. Thanks to coordination and a dedicated approach, its purpose is to enable our fundamentally disadvantaged citizens with disabilities to learn their consumer rights without assistance, and to build awareness of consumer rights among our children who are blind.
Through the project entitled Overcoming Barriers with TükoDer:
Videos will be prepared of the children's story books that were produced for primary school pupils, printed at the start of 2020 and published on the website (www.izmirtukoder.org.tr/medya/egitselgorseller), in the form of audio recordings for children who are blind and sign language presentations for children who are deaf. Within the same project, the document entitled CONSUMER GUIDE-1, prepared and printed for adults, will be recorded as audio for adults who are blind and produced in video format. CDs/DVDs on which the videos prepared for disadvantaged groups are recorded will be distributed to the Turkish Beyazay Association's branches throughout Türkiye and abroad (72 branches), and the videos will also be published and shared with the public on the websites of both TükoDer (www.izmirtukoder.org.tr) and the Turkish Beyazay Association (www.beyazay.org.tr).
Also within this project, 2 children's story books explaining consumer rights, prepared for primary school pupils who are not disadvantaged, together with Consumer Guide-2 and 3 prepared for adults, will be printed.
