A Healing Hand from Türkiye to North Macedonia

As part of the Türkiye–North Macedonia Disability Friendship Day held on 19–22 November, the Turkish Beyazay Association also visited the Yörük villages in eastern North Macedonia.

During the visit, contact was made with Emre Omerov, who lives in the Radoviš region and has advanced heart disease. AK Party Istanbul MP Tülay Kaynarca and directors of the Turkish Beyazay Association began efforts to have little Emre treated in Türkiye, and those efforts bore fruit before long.

Brought to Türkiye with the support of the Ministry of Health, Emre was immediately admitted for treatment at the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, where an angiogram was performed first.

The President of the Turkish Beyazay Association, Lokman Ayva, said: ‘‘In Radoviš we learned that a child of ours named Emre Omerov had heart disease. Beyazay had many activities abroad previously and we thought about what could be done in that region. Because he was not well, our child was struggling to go to school. We spoke with the Turkish Embassy and the Ministry of Health, and they too agreed that the treatment should take place in Türkiye. Now we are waiting for Emre to regain his health.’’
