The recognition of the Turkish Beyazay Association among the organisations that may collect donations without prior permission under article 6 of Fundraising Law no. 2860 was approved by Presidential decision no. 2650 of 10 June 2020.
Acting on this authority, the Turkish Beyazay Association launched the ‘Education Overcomes Every Barrier’ campaign to support the education of people with disabilities.
Launched on the understanding that the greatest barrier facing people with disabilities is a lack of education, the campaign aims to raise awareness across every part of our society that people with disabilities can receive an education and be active in every area of social life. Under this campaign, which will collect donations across Türkiye for one year, a planned budget of 20 million TL will be used to bring 7,104 students with disabilities into education and to touch their lives.

What the campaign will provide
• Education grants for 500 students with disabilities
(education grants for 150 secondary school and 350 university students over 10 months)
• Educational materials for 3,920 students with disabilities
• Tablets for 500 primary and 500 lower secondary school students
• Laptops for 500 secondary school, 500 university and 100 master's/doctoral students
• Software for 50 secondary school and 50 university students (screen reading software for people who are blind, screen magnification software for people with low vision, sign language conversion software for people who are deaf)
• Smartphones running iOS or Android for 20 nursery, 20 primary, 20 lower secondary, 20 secondary and 20 university students who are blind, have low vision, are deaf or are autistic
• Kinect devices to meet the physiotherapy needs of students with physical disabilities, for 10 primary, 20 lower secondary and 20 secondary school students
• Magnifiers for 10 primary, 10 lower secondary, 5 secondary, 5 university and 5 master's/doctoral students
• Magnifying spectacles for 10 primary, 10 lower secondary, 5 secondary, 5 university and 5 master's/doctoral students
• Embossed material sets for 500 primary, 500 lower secondary and 500 secondary school students (a set per person, comprising a globe, a map and mathematics materials)
• Wheelchairs for 120 students with disabilities
(wheelchairs for 20 nursery, 20 primary, 20 lower secondary, 20 secondary, 20 university and 20 master's/doctoral students)
• Powered wheelchairs for 40 students with disabilities
(powered wheelchairs for 10 lower secondary, 10 secondary, 10 university and 10 master's/doctoral students)
• Hearing aids for 60 students with disabilities
(hearing aids for 10 nursery, 10 primary, 10 lower secondary, 10 secondary, 10 university and 10 master's/doctoral students)
• Smart canes for 100 students
(smart canes for 40 secondary school, 40 university and 20 master's/doctoral students)
• Canes for 1,000 students with disabilities
(canes for 300 nursery, 300 primary, 200 lower secondary, 100 secondary and 100 university students)
• Braille displays for 200 students with disabilities
(braille displays for 50 primary, 50 lower secondary, 50 secondary and 50 university students)
• Hall of residence grants for 130 students with disabilities
(residence grant support for 100 university and 30 master's/doctoral students over 10 months)
• School transport grants for 450 students with disabilities
(transport grant support for 50 nursery, 100 primary, 100 lower secondary, 100 secondary and 100 university students over 9 months)
• Rehabilitation support for 200 students with disabilities
(rehabilitation services for 50 primary, 50 lower secondary, 50 secondary and 50 university students over 6 months)
• Training grants for 10 instructors
(a one-week training grant for educators who will be taught the techniques and methods developed for people with disabilities)
• Inclusive education sets for 250 students with intellectual disabilities
(a 26-piece set for students with intellectual disabilities comprising visual and tactile educational games, shapes and skill-building materials that develop gross and fine motor skills, for 150 primary and 100 lower secondary school students)
• Orthoses and prostheses for 120 students with disabilities
(orthoses for 10 nursery, 10 primary, 10 lower secondary, 10 secondary, 10 university and 10 master's/doctoral students; prostheses for 10 nursery, 10 primary, 10 lower secondary, 10 secondary, 10 university and 10 master's/doctoral students)
• Overseas master's and doctoral scholarships for 4 students with disabilities
(one-off support for overseas master's and doctoral study for 4 master's/doctoral students)
