As part of an international collaboration between Beyazay and the Oklahoma Rehabilitation Council (USA), a comprehensive training program was conducted focusing on the transition processes of individuals with disabilities—specifically from education to higher education, and from higher education to the workforce. Held in May 2025 and conducted in both Turkish and English, this program marked the first time in Turkey that a certified training initiative based on the "transition" approach was implemented to facilitate the movement of individuals with disabilities from high school to university and from university to employment.
The program brought together Beyazay members with experts and academics from the Oklahoma Rehabilitation Council—professionals possessing extensive experience in transition services, vocational rehabilitation, and preparing individuals with disabilities for independent living. The training sessions covered topics such as individualized transition planning, the setting of educational and career goals, employment readiness, inter-institutional cooperation, and the active participation of individuals with disabilities in decision-making processes; models and best practices from the USA were evaluated within the Turkish context. Through this program, Beyazay members gained international knowledge and practical experience regarding the planning and support of transition processes and received their certificates. With this pioneering initiative, Beyazay contributed to the recognition and dissemination in Turkey of the "transition" approach—a concept of growing global importance—while taking a significant step toward developing more systematic, sustainable, and rights-based support mechanisms for young people with disabilities as they journey from education to the workforce.
